STRATEGIC GOALS
2009-2011

1)  Advocate and communicate motorcycle safety awareness through the sharing of information and continued communication with other organizations and entities.

  • Continually expand and update website to include motorcycle awareness tools.
  • Maintain and build key stakeholder relationships with other safety organizations.
  • Participate in external motorcycle councils and meetings.
  • Develop and execute Professional Development Workshops to be delivered at national conference.
  • Maintain strong relationships with voting members by continuous communication.
    • Send monthly bulletins regarding participation and/or involvement to communicate more regularly with members.
    • Send out quarterly Leading Edge newsletters.

2)  Keep SMSA in the fore front of the motorcycle industry.

  • Seek funding sources to promote SMSA.
  • Develop and execute motorcycle projects/activities at national conferences.
  • Report progress of projects/activities on website.

3)  To establish SMSA as an organization that state motorcycle programs, National organizations and other stakeholders view as valued resources and partners.

  • Evolve the annual conference to meet dynamic changes in the motorcycle industry.
  • Expand and update website to include motorcycle awareness tools.
  • Provide technical support to new motorcycle safety administrators and programs.
    • Develop information kit for regional representatives to be provided to new administrators.
    • Provide assistance to members as needed.

4)  Lead in key motorcycle safety issues through partnerships with government and other organizations:

  • Participate in external motorcycle councils and meetings.
  • Place current highway authorization bill information on website.
  • Participate in other organizations such as:
    • AAMVA
    • AASHTO
    • AMA
    • GHSA
    • MRF
    • MSF
    • NHTSA
  • Participate with NHTSA in the development and implementation of the curriculum standards.
