Description:Ride Smart. Drive Smart. is a seasonal campaign carried out during Ohio’s spring and summer riding months.The Ohio State Highway Patrol and American Motorcyclist Association have partnered for three consecutive seasons, beginning in 2005, to deliver the campaign which emphasizes three key safety messages:
- Ride trained/Ride licensed – ensuring riders have a valid motorcycle endorsement, quality motorcycle training, and proper safety equipment.
- Ride sober – incorporating the AMA’s national Ride Straight campaign.
- Motorcycle Awareness – Troopers are stressing the importance of drivers being aware of motorcyclists.
Ride Smart. Drive Smart. provides an extensive resource website featuring a variety of print materials and PSAs.In addition, an up-to-date map of Ohio motorcyclist fatality crashes is provided.The campaign is reinforced throughout the riding season with periodic press releases and media events.
