How Many Motorcylists Does It Take To Wash A Windshield?

Minnesota Motorcyclists Urge Motorists to "Start Seeing Motorcycles"

What: 13th Annual Minnesota Washout

When: Saturday, April 29, 2000 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Where: The Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley Dolphin parking lot

Who: Minnesota Department of Public Safety Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center

Over 600 members from motorcycle clubs will wash motorists' windshields to encourage drivers to "start seeing motorcycles" during this riding season. Free windshield washes will be offered at more than 25 rest areas statewide. The sites will be identified by a Washout banner and riders wearing white and blue T-shirts. This event will give motorcyclists the opportunity to talk with motorists about safely sharing the roadway with motorcyclists. Also, motorcycle safety information and other goodies will be provided.

This effort, in conjunction with the Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center and the Minnesota Department of Public Safety focuses on preventing motorcycle-car crashes, which frequently are caused by drivers who fail to see motorcyclists.

In the metro, Washout volunteers will be washing windshields at the Minnesota Zoo in the Dolphin parking lot. The KDWB Radio station will be at the event with their Skybox to help promote motorcycle safety.
